Collective has worked with Break O’Day Council over several years to deliver streetscape, traffic and safety upgrades across key townships within the municipality, including St Marys, Fingal and St Helens.
The program formed part of Council’s broader objective to renew ageing public infrastructure, improve township amenity and create a more consistent standard of streetscape treatment across the region, while still respecting the individual heritage, character and aesthetic of each township.
Collective provided civil engineering design and coordination services for staged streetscape upgrades, including:
A key part of the program was ensuring Council’s investment in new streetscape surfaces was protected for the long term. Collective worked closely with TasWater, TasNetworks, NBN, Council officers, property owners and local businesses to identify infrastructure conflicts and coordinate service renewals before new pavements and footpaths were constructed.
This included renewing or rationalising underground services, replacing obsolete infrastructure such as asbestos pits, improving property connections, and coordinating utility upgrades where new public realm works were proposed.
The upgrades improved pedestrian safety, vehicle access, business frontage accessibility and overall township amenity. In areas such as St Marys and St Helens, drainage improvements were also an important priority due to local flooding history.
The completed works provided:
The streetscape upgrade program has delivered long-lasting community infrastructure across several Break O’Day townships. The works have improved the presentation, accessibility, safety and functionality of each town centre while supporting Council’s long-term asset renewal strategy.
Collective is proud to have supported Break O’Day Council in delivering practical, durable and community focused civil infrastructure outcomes across the municipality.
This collaborative approach has resulted in outstanding outcomes for our clients.
