Christopher Polis

Research and Development Engineer Christopher Polis has a broad skill set founded in engineering. Training originally as a Naval Architect, he has added skills in Structural Engineering and Mechanical Services over the last twenty-four years. To that foundation, Chris has added study and experience in research, computational modeling, and organizational design. It is safe to say that Chris is a bit of an over-achiever, armed with a Doctorate in Philosophy, Masters-level units in Mechanical and Electrical Services, and a Graduate Diploma in Management, he has also completed a Ph.D. in which he discovered a way to model and predict how the forces on a submarine change as it approaches the surface.

His extensive industry experience has included the undertaking of preliminary investigations, conceptual design, analysis, documentation, and construction supervision for projects across multiple disciplines including Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, and Mechanical Services, for projects such as the Bulbous Bow design for the Sorrento Ferry, the Ulverstone Wharf redevelopment, and the Sydney Harbour Jet Boat, to name just a few.

He has also been involved in projects such as the City of Launceston’s Albert Hall redevelopment, the Corumbene redevelopment in New Norfolk, and the Sea Forest Macroalgae Development at Webber Point.

Chris’ main responsibilities at Collective Consulting include the development of the Integrated Management System, research and development of technical capacity in areas outside of established expertise, interaction with clients and contractors and preparation of documentation as required, Structural Engineering Modelling and calculations, and contract administration.

Chris enjoys the opportunities to be involved in projects that make a difference locally, in other regional areas, and far into the future, as well as the freedom to explore areas of potential growth.
